Yoga Teacher Training Peru

Peru 300 Hour Advanced Training

Sacred Valley of Peru

Travel to the Sacred Valley, high in the Peruvian Andes and fill your soul with joy in this magical place. Held at the Munay Sonqo Retreat and Yoga Center in the small village of Arin, Peru, here you will be inspired by the native Quecha speaking cultures, as they work the land in the way they have for centuries, with love and simplicity.

The center is eco-conscious, constructed using local materials, with a love for the natural, sacred landscape. Enjoy dining, study and relaxation in artfully crafted spaces, sure to inspire and propel personal growth. A stunning yoga temple with views of the mountains will be the backdrop for personal transformation. Lovingly tended gardens and pathways will provide you with personal privacy and solitude on your journey in this picturesque mountain valley.

When not studying yoga, enjoy hikes to nearby waterfalls, visit local villages and markets, soak in nearby hot springs, and relax in garden hammocks.

This course is for those who are called to become an advanced yoga teacher and experience the healing medicine of the valley’s sacred mountains and rivers.

Curriculum Focus of This Unique Training

Yoga Philosophy, Ancient Texts & Spiritual Immersion

To guide the process of personal transformation we explore ancient texts such as the Yoga Sutras, The Bhagavad Gita, and practices from Peruvian Shamanism, and Celtic Shamanism (where nearly all of the current holidays have their roots). These ancient discoveries live as wisdom to help inform our actions in this world. Using these paths as guides, we tap into our own source of creation and expression; understanding enough to confidently share these teachings with others is a sacred gift.

Vinyasa and Advanced Sequencing

An exploration into the art of vinyasa yoga. We will take a deep dive into what it means to teach an “all levels” asana class with curiosity around different modifications and variations for all bodies and skill levels. We will question and examine the essence & purpose of more “Advanced” asanas and how to effectively and skillfully teach more challenging variations in a safe way. We will practice intentional hands on adjustments and explore the “why” behind our assists. Trainees will peer teach and absorb workshop moments throughout the course to not only grow in their teaching approach, but in their own practice as well.

Meditation, Pranayama, & Breathwork Practice

Gain an in-depth understanding of the theory, practice, and teaching of pranayama and various forms of meditation and Yoga Nidra. Through intermediate and advanced instruction, participants learn how to create a variety of pranayama sequences for specific needs. Accompanying the regular practice of pranayama are daily meditation practices exploring a variety of mindfulness techniques. We will also be exploring the practice of Breathwork, which is a completely separate practice while having roots in Pranayama. Breathwork super oxygenates the whole body, as well as allows for tremendous opportunities to access deeper parts of our inner process and Self.

Yoga Therapeutics & Trauma Informed Training

Deepen your understanding of how trauma affects the brain and the nervous system. Increase your awareness and sensitivity when working with trauma survivors and marginalized communities. Learn how trauma lives in the body and the healing potential available through embodiment practices and breathwork. Create & Maintain inclusive environments that support your student’s emotional exploration. Enhance your ability to share Trauma-Informed Yoga classes through inviting cues, consistent classes, and intentional necessary hands on adjustments. Practical Somatic Experiencing exercises will be shared as well as sequencing techniques that support the nervous system

Spiritual Practice & Sacred Ceremonies

This training will flow with a connection to nature and earth medicine practices of our ancestors—Especially to be closer to the roots of where many of our modern traditions come from in Celtic Shamanism, such as Solstice & Equinox. We will traverse through cycles of release, of expanded understanding, new growth, and personal and community empowerment. Together we create a space that reveals our inner wisdom and accelerates the realization of our life’s purpose.

Community Leadership & Wellness Entrepreneurship

Confident, skilled and knowledgeable leaders are needed to inspire, guide and foster dynamic organizations and communities. While we may be willing to give our time and talents to serve others, we must first cultivate the connections, skills and confidence to take on leadership roles. Together we will practice powerful empathic communication skills, the art of questions, and further develop our personal visions for careers as community leaders and wellness entrepreneurs.

Environmental and Social Responsibility

Our goal at Indra Yoga Institute is to increase our awareness on all levels. To dedicate time and resources to finding solutions to the environmental challenges facing us now and in the future. More science and more technology cannot get us out of our present ecologic crisis. A global awakening must take place to shift the current conscience. Through literature, poetry, dialogue, and practice, we uncover the power of yoga to connect all beings and bring about global change.
