Working with Laura felt like the initiation and ritual into womanhood that I never got when I came of age. She is Shakti energy personified and it spills into the space, plants, and bodies she touches. Laura doesn’t just create a welcoming space for your physical body, but for the divine in you as well. Your higher realms of spirit are nourished by sight, sound and scent.

“I remember first coming to Sweat Your Prayers with my mom when I was in college, and my immediate reaction was, ‘well this is weird.’ But as I relaxed and started to dance, I became aware of a feeling of great connection with Spirit. For the first time in my life I felt connected to every living thing. I could feel my oneness with the universe. I cried, right there on the dance floor, flooded with love. Twenty years later and I still feel that same connection, the same ecstasy, at Sweat Your Prayers. Dancing touches me like nothing else, it is when I feel most joyful and alive. No matter where I’m dancing I’m having a great time. But there is something truly magic at Sweat Your Prayers that is cultivated by Laura. It always heals me and gives me the answers I need, which is only possible through Laura’s gift of creating a sacred container.”

For at least fourteen years (plus) that I’ve been in the community, Laura has been continuously creating such a safe strong fiercely loving container for delving into the shamanic practice of movement medicine, in the same room, on the same beautiful wooden floor, with such responsiveness to what seems to be emerging within our community...offering a truly transformative healing opportunity for me, personally, & to countless others. I’ve experienced so much there as I’ve danced, prayed, sweat, cried, sung, “lost myself” & learned (from Laura) that I could instead of “losing myself,” actually move to “find myself.” That was a pivotal moment for me in my practice.
